What LoftPros is
LoftPros.ca is a directory of professionals who have been specifically reviewed for loft experience. Toronto's loft market covers heritage-designated buildings, industrial warehouse conversions, live/work units, and open-plan spaces that present challenges a standard condo doesn't. The trades that serve these buildings well are a subset of the broader market, and finding them takes more than a Google search.
The directory covers six trade categories: renovation contractors, stagers, mortgage brokers, home inspectors, real estate lawyers, and property managers. Every professional listed has been reviewed for loft-specific credentials and project history before appearing in the directory.
Why we built it
Loft buyers in Toronto frequently discover after purchase that the professional they hired for a renovation, inspection, or financing didn't understand the specific demands of the building type. Heritage permit violations. Structural damage from contractors who didn't know which walls were bearing. Financing that fell through because the broker didn't know which lenders work with live/work units. Inspections that missed conversion-era system problems because the inspector had never assessed a building of that age and type.
